Chorlton High School’s End of Year Exhibition took place on 2nd July. Every single art student was represented in KS3 & KS4 in this celebration of all the beautiful creativity explored in the Art Department, with an emphasis on Year 11 GCSE students in Art, Photography and 3D design. The exhibition took place in all 4 art studios and the surrounding corridors.
There are also a number of celebrations taking place throughout the month around the school in other departments!
Belong Festival: During the week commencing the 7th July, Chorlton High are hosting a celebration of creativity and belonging throughout the school, celebrating the 49 different languages spoken at their school. Year 7 students will work with Choreographer Emma Kelly from PAVE Dance Company to bring together a Bollywood dance piece performed on 14th July. There will also be Caribbean Dancers, a choir performance, an evening of Ignite Speeches, performance pieces, a fashion show and a Pride extravaganza, showcasing the very best of their creative community.
‘When I hear Music’: Year 6 students were treated to an immersive dance, music, drama, & spoken word piece on 3rd July all about the challenges of transitioning to secondary school written by hip-hop choreographer Chad Taylor and spoken word artist Courtney Hayle.
“They listened to a unique soundtrack while dancers guided them through feelings, classrooms, rhythms, vibes, and our school environment. The captivating piece focused on powerful themes of belonging, finding your own way, making new friends, and meeting new challenges – truly embodying the emotional journey of transition in a creative and unforgettable way.” – Chorlton High Teacher
Creative Dance Workshop: Year’s 7, 8 & 9 were treated to a workshop with Manchester-born dance company, Company Chameleon, in the school’s Blue Box Theatre.
